OpenAI Makes a Browser, Breathing Hot Air on Google

According to a report from The Information, OpenAI – the company behind ChatGPT, is considering developing a new web browser. This tool will be combined with ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence solutions of OpenAI, providing unique features such as information search, content synthesis, translation…

Accordingly, the browser, codenamed NLWeb (Natural Language Web), allows users to interact in natural language. NLWeb brings a smart browsing experience thanks to the power of AI, especially ChatGPT.

OpenAI’s move is seen as a direct challenge to Google, the “giant” that dominates the web browser market. This competition can benefit users, as technology companies continue to innovate and improve their products.

Sam Altman’s company has been in talks with major website and app developers like Conde Nast, Redfin, Eventbrite, and Priceline. With its existing AI platform and talented team, OpenAI’s browser is expected to make a splash in the market.

The project has gained even more attention recently as the US Department of Justice is pressuring Google to sell its Chrome browser to fight against its monopoly in the search industry. If OpenAI takes advantage of this “golden opportunity”, the browser market could soon witness a drastic change.

OpenAI’s web browser launch date has not been revealed, but with its recent bold moves, the company is showing its big ambitions in shaping the future of the internet.

In addition to browser development, The Information’s report also said that OpenAI has partnered with Samsung to provide AI products for devices manufactured by the company. If the deal is successful, OpenAI will have a huge user base for its services alongside Apple Intelligence.

In contrast to the rise of the new name, the “big guy” Google is having to increase all efforts to maintain its competitiveness with OpenAI and other AI companies.

Since ChatGPT took the world by storm in late 2022, Alphabet has been investing heavily in AI research and development, culminating in the launch of the Gemini chatbot last year.
